GALLANT DOG STEM CELLS therapy

Many senior dogs suffer from arthritis, itchy irritated skin or chronic dry eye.  Gallant dog stem cells therapy wants to help dogs treat those common health conditions with regenerative medicine using your dogs own cells.    Ailments that may be treated or improved include Osteoarthritis, itchy or flaky skin, excessive hair loss, kidney injury, dry eye, ACL tears (more accurately CCL in dogs), ligament tears and more.

the process

  1. The process starts by collecting stem cells when your dog is spayed or neutered.   Work with Gallant and your Vet to supply your Vet with the required collection kit.   There are no unique skills needed so any Vet should be able to do this.

  2. On the day your dog is spayed/neutered, the stem cell rich tissue is placed in the collection kit and delivered to the Gallant scientists for storage.

  3. At Gallant, scientists use liquid nitrogen to freeze and preserve the stem cells.  To insure the cells remain preserved, they are monitored by the Gallant team.

  4. As your dog ages and faces the common health issues, regenerative medicine can be provided using the stem cells.   Procedures and out-patient, do not require anesthesia and are not painful to your pet.

How do stem cells heal ?

Stem cells are different from other cells.    They act as the “raw materials” for generating other cells with specialized functions.    Under the right conditions, the cells can divide to become specialized cells such as blood cells, bone cells, heart and brain cells.    Stem cells are the only cells capable of generating other types of cells.   They can play an important role in regenerative medicine to repair and regenerate diseased areas within the body.

I think I've heard some controversy about stem cells

There are different types of stem cells.  Embryonic stem cells, which are taken from early stage embryos, have been surrounded in questions about ethics.

The stem cells used in the Gallant dog stem cell therapy are taken from your dog’s reproductive tissue during spaying or neutering.   This tissue is discarded as part of the traditional procedure.   These stem cells are coming from your dog, from tissue that has historically been thrown away.   These are completely different cells from those from embryos that have the controversy.

A shark tank connection

Aaron Hirschhorn, the founder of Gallant, appeared on Shark Tank in late 2019 looking for additional funding for the business.   Having struggled with chronic back pain and being cured through stem cell and regenerative medicine,  Hirschhorn looked to bring this healing therapy to dogs.

Anne Wojcicki and Lori Greiner went in together and funded $500,000 in exchange for 5% of the company.    Gallant has at least another 7 Million in funding from earlier investors.

Having 4 key patents to offer protection from competitors and a history having owned Dog Vacay which was bought by Rover, Hirschhorn and his team are set up nicely to grow and control the dog stem cell therapy space.
