Hero Dog Brace

Your dog has a knee or ankle injury impacting their ability to run, play and enjoy being an active dog.    A Hero dog brace could allow your pup to get back to a normal life without going through surgery.   For many dogs, surgery is not an option due to age, health or expense.   A brace may be able to provide the support your dog needs to be able to put pressure on his leg and also to minimize the risk that he will damage his other leg.   Many dogs unfortunately do damage their other leg because they modify their walk and pressure they put on each leg.

The Hero brace company has experience going back to 2005 and work done with the Animal Planet’s vet Dr Robert Taylor.   The company founder is himself a leg amputee and has a passion for helping dogs with leg injuries.

faqs

Do dog leg braces work ?
Some says yes, some say no.   It’s important to consider that American Vets have been taught that surgery is a chance to help.   Their training literally focuses on surgery and going to it first as “the” way to help animals.    Only recently have Vets had braces as part of their education or as requests from their patients.
Will my dog try to chew the brace ?
The company states that less than 1% of users say this has been a problem for them.   The company will work with new dogs/owners to adjust to the brace so as to accept it and to avoid feelings of chewing it off
Are there any guarantees ?
The plastic parts of the brace are guaranteed for the life of your dog.   The straps can be replaced at 12-24 months for minimal costs.  Hero guarantees that the fit of the brace will be a great match for your dog.
What if my vet is not familiar with using braces?
Hero has partnerships with some vets and is very cooperative with all vets.   They have informative learning material and a process to help vets become comfortable with using braces.
Can I get a brace for my small/large dog ?
Yes !   Hero braces are custom sized for your dog and the company has built braces for very small and very large dogs.
How does recovery from use of brace differ from recovery due to surgery?
The strategy behind use of a brace is to stabilize the joint so that scar tissue can form to strengthen the joint.   Additionally, the brace gives your dog confidence in the injured leg so they maintain their normal pressure and stride and avoid depending on their other legs which can lead to other problems.
